Mad City is very excited to announce our next Rocket League 2v2 tournament at MWL20. This  $500 Prize Pool 2v2 Bring Your Own PC Rocket League LAN tournament will take place from Saturday, October 13th 2018 through Sunday, October 14th 2018 at the Marriott Madison West in Middleton, Wisconsin!

  • Date: Saturday & Sunday 10/13/18 – 10/14/18
  • Time: Saturday, Check-in: 10AM. Sunday Check-in: 11AM. Tournament: 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM
  • Venue Fee: $55 if you register before 10/11, $65 at the door
  • Prize: Starting at $500. If we have 9 or more teams checked in at the start of the tournament, the prize pool will increase to $1000.
  • Age Restrictions: Open to all ages (under 13 must be accompanied by adult). Younger than 18 will need a waiver signed by a parent/guardian.
  • Platform:  PC – (This is a “Bring Your Own PC” LAN event. Rental PCs are available for an additional fee.)
  • Skill level: Open to all skill levels

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What time does it start?
A: Check-in begins at 10AM. Teams who have not checked in by 11:30 AM may be disqualified. Please be on time. If you are traveling from out of town, please make sure you’ve given yourself extra time in case of traffic or weather delays.
Q: How long will the tournament run?
A: The tournament is scheduled to run for 2 days from Saturday to Sunday from 12pm to 7pm each day, approximately. Group stage will take place on Saturday. Bracket phase will take place on Sunday.
Q: How do I get there? Is free parking available?
A: Marriott Madison West is a 15 minute drive west of downtown Madison in Middleton, Wisconsin. Middleton is a 2 ½ hour drive northwest of Chicago. Madison is serviced by Megabus at the University of Wisconsin-Madison downtown and major airlines through Dane County Regional Airport (MSN), 20 minutes away from Marriott Madison West. There is plenty of free parking in the lots surrounding the hotel/convention center.
Q: What do I need to bring?
A: Your PC including a monitor, peripherals, headset (no speakers are allowed), PC power cords, and ~15 foot ethernet cable. The only thing that will be provided for you is a seat, 3’ of table space, and a network port (you must bring your own network cable). Your PC/laptop MUST be equipped with an ethernet port or an ethernet dongle to be connected to the network. If you’re under 18, you’ll need to have a parent/guardian sign your waiver that you MUST bring with you: [MWL Waiver]

Q: Where do I sign up?
A: First, register for a seat at MidWest LAN: [] Second, register your team at []
Q: Can I sign up if I don’t have a partner?
A: No. However, we have a [#MWL20 Discord channel on] and a [Facebook Group] which you may join to find other people in the area who might need a partner. If you’re needing a ride, you may also arrange carpools via these channels.
Q: Can I have a sub if my partner can’t make it?
A: No. Since your partner’s seat at the LAN is registered under their name, they will need to be there to check in.
Q: How much will it cost?
A: This depends on when you register. $55 if you register before 10/11, $65 at the door
Q: Can I sign up if I’m already going to MWL & have already purchased a 3-day pass?
A: Yes. Register at []
Q: Will refunds be issued if I can’t make it?
A: No refunds will be given once signed up.
Q: Are there any age restrictions?
A: You must be at least 13 years of age or older to attend a MWL event by yourself. If you are under 18 years of age a parent/legal guardian must sign your waiver form which must be brought with you when you check-in at MWL [MWL Waiver Form]. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a paid parent/guardian attendee. Hotel rooms at Marriott Madison West will have separate age policies.
Q: What is the format of the tournament?
A: A group phase on Day 1 (Saturday) will seed a bracket that occurs on Day 2 (Sunday). All matches are Best of 3 except the semifinals which will be Best of 5 and finals/third-place matches which will be Best of 7.
Q: How will it be seeded?
A: Your team’s collective MMR in Ranked Doubles will be used to seed you in the tournament.
Q: What are the rules?
A: * Follow all in-house rules at Marriott Madison West. * Follow all the [rules of MidWest LAN] (See Rules Section) * Follow the proper procedure to set-up and play your matches. * Honestly report series scores. * Act appropriately - no foul or unsportsmanlike language or behavior. * Tournament organizers and admins reserve the right to interpret rules/situations and make decisions regarding the process of the tournament using their best judgement in any unforeseen circumstances.
Q: Is there a cap on participating teams?
A: No. First come first serve as long as there are seats available at MWL.
Q: What platform?
A: This will be a “Bring Your Own PC” tournament. Yes, you MUST own your own copy of Rocket League.
Q: What will be provided?
A: Your registration gets you one seat and one network connection at the LAN.
Q: In what kind of environment will this be?
A: This is an all-ages, family friendly LAN environment.
Q: I was eliminated from the tournament. What now?
A: Please stay, hang out, and continue to watch the games. An elimination bracket will be available for anyone who is eliminated early in which to participate.
Q: Can we eat there?
A: Yes. The adjacent hotel does have a restaurant and bar. Outside food will be allowed as well.
Q: How do we keep up with the tournament schedule?
A: The entire tournament will be run through You must be logged in to get your match schedule as well as instructions for setting up your matches.
Q: We were playing and the server had a lag spike. What now?
A: If in the event a minor lag spike happens and it had no game-changing effect on the match, please continue with your game.
Q: We were playing and the server crashed and/or became completely unplayable! What now?
A: Rocket League does not have a “resume at X point” feature so in the event of a server crash or prolonged rubberbanding / lag, then the private game lobby must be recreated and restarted from 0 - 0.
Q: The match is over and we won/lost! What now?
A:’s score reporting dashboard should automatically refresh with your series scores using it’s inbuilt API. If your scores do not appear, try refreshing the page. If the scores still don’t appear please let an admin know so the scores can be entered manually. Your dashboard will then update with your next match & lobby-making information once your opponents are ready.
